oh.... Just leave the subject here and focus on construction topics. But still, I’ll feed the troll once again : Quite a lot of polemics and platitudes in a few lines. Respect. We are not going to decide on a speed limit here anyway. By the way, the majority of Germans are in favor (there are countless surveys, most of which were not conducted by lobby organizations of the automotive industry, and about 60-70% are in favor of a corresponding limit). Personal responsibility works well with issues like alcohol, smoking, seatbelt laws, etc. Then it will also work with speeding (irony off). By the way, fuel prices do not stop anyone (well, maybe one out of 100) from driving fast. Just look around on the highway. And we do not have a prohibition mentality here anyway. There are significantly more bans and restrictions in most other inner- or outer-European countries (where most of us do not want to live). Politics steers, manages and regulates (ideally), otherwise we would have anarchy. And 120 is more dangerous than 80, and that in turn is more dangerous than 50. Best we leave the car standing and just walk. These discussions are pointless. People can still be trusted to take some responsibility for themselves.
With the fuel prices, hardly anyone drives particularly fast anymore anyway. The highways have unparalleled construction sites, and due to the traffic density, in 95 out of 100 cases it is hardly possible to drive faster than 130. If at all. The issue of "driving fast" has resolved itself in recent years. Our average speed of about 100 km/h also shows this.
And when the highway is clear, then let people drive a few minutes faster. I myself drive on the highway so rarely nowadays that I couldn't care less whether there is a speed limit or not. But what bothers me is the prohibition mentality that is currently spreading.
And also in other countries with speed limits, the locals hammer past you at 180 (Poland, Czech Republic, France, Italy, and Spain experienced myself). Since one expects it less, I was all the more surprised when they flew past.
