Yep, that is mainly what's missing. However, it doesn’t help if northern German prime ministers believe that the grid needs to be segmented. That might go down well with northern German voters, but it’s the wrong direction. And with that, they are also treading on very thin ice, because on what grounds are tens of millions redirected from the south to the north every year? Right...equal living conditions. Whoever starts cherry-picking for the north also takes away the justification for such redistributions
Put differently: Why shouldn’t the citizens who have their wind farms right in front of their doorsteps also benefit from them? That’s just fair. Where the most electricity is produced, there are also the cheapest tariffs (it might only be a 5 cent difference). Because that way, the other federal states can nicely pay for their own power lines. Others shouldn’t have to suffer because Söder and co. have delayed the expansion of renewables. That should be nicely paid for by his own Bavarian voters…
