Adjustable hot air blower and, afterwards(!), cleaning gasoline.

Depends – for our general contractor they were on the checklist to be added, which you received before purchase. So financeable, even if accounting for the real estate transfer tax. Buying directly from the window company during the construction phase would also have been possible, without the general contractor’s surcharge of around 20%.

Fixed screwed ones are not necessary in my opinion either. The ones with clamp frames are extremely practical and offer just as much full protection. One cost almost €115, but I would do it that way anytime again. Compared to what such a house costs, that is very little expense.

We also have such a clamp frame in one room. It works, but it damages the rubber on the window. I don’t remember how much it cost. On all other windows, we now also have the ones with the hook-and-loop adhesive. Cost per window: 16€. Fully serves its purpose and I can’t think of a single reason why I should pay a lot of money for ones from the window manufacturer. They offer no added value at all.

The problem with the cheap parts from the hardware store or discount store is usually the insufficient dimension. Almost all our windows are either too wide or too high, if not both.

I think it would be enough here to abolish the Merit Order, then prices would regulate themselves somewhat again. I also find it worrying that the EU wants to "fine-tune" "critical supply chains" in the future, with minimum requirements for stock levels and prioritization of certain orders. Some bureaucrats still seem to be under the illusion that they know better than companies that deal with this all day long.

To add something on the topic of fly screens: We had them retrofitted by a professional company at the first house. It was important to us to have the most invisible fabric possible so that they wouldn't be bothersome even in winter. We had solutions with Velcro and DIY in the guest WC or basement windows, where the appearance didn't matter to us. But it simply made a huge difference; the transparent fabric from the hardware store was not nearly as transparent as the specific fabric from a professional company. We chose the company that installs this specific transparent fabric. For this house, only this fabric will be used again; if the window fitter does not install it, then it will be done afterwards. We had screens to hook in, both for regular windows and for floor-to-ceiling ones on the upper floor, as well as for the terrace sliding elements, running analogously to the lift-and-slide door. Without a middle bar, however, this is only possible up to a certain size.
