For under 40s, definitely not easy to do anymore without inheritance. But there are plenty who get a financial boost from their family. That will continue for some time - but maybe then you won’t see fireplaces, tilt-and-slide doors, large windows, external blinds, electric shutters, double garages, etc. as often anymore. And the living space will just shrink a bit. People just need to lower their expectations a bit again. We could have easily spent 150k less too, but we didn’t want to ;)

But I meant the time when every hairdresser, bakery seller (nothing against those professions - just average people) could somehow afford their own house through EL, I don’t see that anymore.
In America, 30y fixed mortgage at just under 5% :D
