When I look at the salary tables in the public service, I ask myself which family can still afford that if not both are somewhere in level 14-15 at 100%... or have inherited. We have realistically saved 110k with 35 and 28 and one child (the second is on the way) and come to 5000k net after studying (wife in part-time).. the dream of homeownership is really far away.

The Bavarian West is not that bad after all and houses were already presented here last year for 620k (500k house and 112k building plot).

well. You are just too poor for a house - but that's not a problem. Property ownership is not a fundamental right

I do find it problematic when the middle class disappears (unless one inherits). After parental leave, we will have a net income of 7000k (both then working 80% part-time) and will have to rent. I am licensed and have had my specialist qualification since last year. I’m curious to see how things will develop. And I am aware that despite the low salary, we are complaining on a high level.

The question is, why would one have to rent with that? 620k minus 110k equity could already be managed with 7k net? That’s not a low income, is it? Or was there some sarcasm-S somewhere that I missed?

We will only have 7k net after the end of parental leave. Since there is no family support nearby, my wife will take at least two years of parental leave (so 2024+ end of parental leave).
