I find it interesting how many people here only focus on their own childhood or personal situation but not on the development. Normally, people expect that their children will be better off economically than themselves. However, if this is no longer the case on a large scale, social unrest arises. Not being able to afford children's rooms anymore is just one part of it. At the same time, as a society, we also have to be careful that society does not become completely segregated. Here the new development area with plots starting at 250k, there the old panel building, each with corresponding residents. That also endangers a society. America should be a warning example in this regard

Well, but there are hardly any other options than selling, renting out, or moving in yourself ;). What good does it do if the brother doesn’t build (although I think that with an inherited plot and 90,000 euros in capital, any average-earning family can build a small house)?

I think we are talking past each other. I never claimed it was the end of the world. It was about where you set priorities.

Until now, I didn’t know it was about being right and only shared my personal impression or my personal experience. I also thought it must have come across that it is a personal description/assessment from me. If that didn’t come across, I regret it and if it is important to you to be right, please, go ahead. :) It is not my intention to put others in the wrong and that was not intended with my post. ;-) By the way, I haven’t ended up on the street either, I didn’t mean to claim that. We are probably just talking past each other.

The brother currently lives in the house. We renovated the house together and have two rooms in the attic as a "holiday apartment". He could well build in the region with the equity, we can’t at all in our area. But we also don’t have 90,000 euros that we could just give to the brother. Perhaps 700 euros is realistic as rent for the house. Everything is a bit complicated at the moment.

From a professional perspective, I would like to hypothesize that the demands for domestic world peace are more difficult to meet when the children do not have their own room. That therefore requires more skills on the part of the parents. Oh, the topic is really very complex once again. With our migrant families, I am always amazed at how much they like to pile on top of each other in the smallest [Butzen] and then there are constantly visitors. However, my Syrian colleague is already somewhat Westernized. She is also sometimes glad when she can enjoy her weekend in peace.
