How can you tell from the outside how well insulated the house is!? 36.5 cm aerated concrete and you don't need plastic/hazardous waste on the facade.

If you can even get any rebar at all right now. In another thread, an article was quoted about material shortages in construction. Since rebar mainly comes from Russia and Ukraine, the situation looks a bit grim at the moment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things go smoothly for you.

It will continue to be no problem in the outskirts of metropolitan areas... the next one is already waiting to take over the returned property. Especially since families can then simply plan smaller and more modestly: instead of 170 sqm KfW40 standard, then 120 sqm KfW55... and 100,000-150,000 € construction costs are saved (at least 500-600 € less monthly burden).

First sentence sounds good. :) Regarding steel prices, I have read here in the forum (you maybe also?) that they are falling and the lower prices just haven't reached the builders yet. I hope you catch a good time. :)

Why actually not buy reinforcing steel from Amazon? I mean if it is available and inexpensive? Normally it’s not Amazon itself, but a Marketplace partner and thus possibly indeed a building materials dealer...

So apart from the fact that one might morally condemn Amazon and therefore not want to buy anything there at all.

Chart related to this, as of yesterday for hot rolled steel (something like sheet metal, rods like with reinforcement mats is a somewhat different story in terms of processing)
The steel price for hot wide strip continues its normalization, and thus the spot price ex-works Ruhr drops to 940 euros per ton. This is indeed the lowest level since January 2022. However, there is still sufficient downside potential. The once large steel consumers of the automotive industry have become marginal figures.

"The auto (industry) is dead," says a German dealer with regard to the weak steel demand from Germany’s flagship industry to Platts. "They neither called off as much steel as intended in the spring, nor will they reach their normal order quantities in the third and fourth quarters."

So it is still easily twice as expensive as in 2019 but at least about 1/4 cheaper than in March.
