Exactly that, go through with it and possibly see if you can take care of some things/assignments yourself in advance in order to avoid/shorten delays as much as possible.

It becomes exciting in view of the Europe-wide transition to Renewables (Goal: moving away from Russian gas and oil) the international rush on air-to-water heat pumps, brine-to-water heat pumps, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, wind turbines, etc. One should now invest in these sectors ;-) I also heard today that many Ukrainians work for Polish logistics companies (30%?), in Germany there is apparently a shortage of 80,000 truck drivers, according to Deutschlandfunk today. Ukrainians missing in Germany due to mobilization are 7%, if I heard correctly. Specifically with regard to our house project: I fear major supply bottlenecks for air-to-water heat pumps and photovoltaics.

So in terms of stocks, oil has been great in recent days as well as steel, the weapons industry, and gold. Everything that involves electronics has already been affected by supply problems (control cabinets, heating systems, etc.). Now it is even worse. Worldwide, air-water heat pumps still do not play such a big role. Mostly heating is done via air conditioning systems. Electricity is much cheaper than with us. Also often nuclear power. For industry, a changeover is a bigger problem. Photovoltaics are becoming more expensive as it is/is becoming mandatory. High demand and low supply. Higher production and transport costs… Best to order everything in time or stock up.

It's all a bit more complicated than in the economics textbook ;) It already starts with the fact that many things are fixed well in advance and cannot simply adjust. Whether it's the fixed price from the general contractor, or the builder who, after securing the loan for the land, now also wants to carry out the construction. Or the government prescribing that homeowners must renovate their old buildings from 1970 to new-build standards. This keeps construction utilization high, even when there's otherwise a recession. Or when enough people believe that inflation will continue to rise steadily and everything will be much more expensive in a few years. What are debts at 1-2% interest when inflation is double-digit? Currently, the waiting lists for new development areas are still well filled. If someone returns their property, others immediately take it. Then you naturally have the problem that a recession is measured on an aggregated level, meaning at the level of the entire economy. Individual sectors can do well and others poorly. With pandemic aftermath, inflation, interest rate turnaround, mobility transition, heating transition, energy transition, etc., the basis for this is definitely laid.

But one has to be careful not to follow a mood that has arisen based on just two (quite eventful) weeks. Things are just as quickly forgotten once the pressure in the system has been released. See the oil price, which is going crazy like nothing, even though there has been hardly any change in production volumes and demand so far. That is all just expectation and sentiment, nothing fundamental.

I see some other factors as well: what if the Ukrainian cheap workers of some subsubsubcontractors voluntarily enlist for military service? and on the other hand with rising interest rates --> how willing to negotiate will the local craftsman be when he only gets half as many orders as in 2021
