With a house, I think you’re looking at a best-case scenario of around three-quarters of a million. The loan required for that can be handled at most by the top 10% of households, unless they have inherited. And we're talking here about a standard new build in a village. It’s pretty crazy the direction in which the standard of living of Germans has developed.

What kind of quartile table is that? Surely not only 6% of the population are richer than us OMG - where can I enter assets?

But one point is probably true:
detached single-family house incl. ancillary building costs, kitchen, garden, fence, driveway, carport, etc. is becoming increasingly difficult for under 500k without [EL].
excl. land.
regardless of whether it is now 120m2 or 180m2 living space
Especially since the KfW and BAFA subsidies have mostly disappeared now.

I don’t want to defend the study now. It went through the usual sausage sheets three years ago. We are also among the top 10 percent of households. Of course, this is not representative. Here in the forum and, of course, also in our circle of acquaintances, we are in bubbles. There are certainly enough social strata where a monthly income of 2k euros is considered affluent. Certainly not in Hamburg and Munich. Under this premise, one can also ask: How many of the top 10 percent are keen on an average house in the middle of nowhere for three quarters of a million? The overlap is certainly manageable there. I think that this also corresponds to the current political objective: No one should want/can build new anymore.

Well, from a certain amount it goes up extremely, for us 16 percent are "richer."

But everyone hanging around here has about 5000 net and that is a lot.
