Our general contractor is planning a Stiebel Eltron LWZ 5. I don't see anything about an enthalpy heat exchanger, only "inverter technology." Is that the same thing?

Dr. Google says no.

Enthalpy heat exchangers, in addition to the heat recovery provided from the measured heat, also ensure a balanced indoor climate through the retained moisture.

The 60s really launched oversized living rooms with panoramic windows on a large scale. Of course, a lot of work needs to be done in terms of energy efficiency. …

Yes, I also remember really large, open fireplaces and large-format marble tiles.

Would exist

To my knowledge, there are only 2 major manufacturers for controlled residential ventilation. The rest is labeled.
I paid 5k for the material, and another 700 for customer service including adjustment and calculation.
Approx. 250m2, 2 residential units. Built in 2021.
11 rooms, 14 plates, 7 exhaust, 7 supply.
Central controlled residential ventilation with cross heat exchanger and enthalpy, ventilation volume (nominal value) 230m3.
Setup was EL

I cannot generally agree with the statement to always install an enthalpy heat exchanger in controlled residential ventilation systems. It depends on the primarily used building materials (concrete, Ytong, clay, brick, +/- ETICS, etc.), the residents (especially the number plays a role due to moisture input) and the habits of the users (e.g. no dryer in the house because laundry is hung up). Also, with none of the devices I know can the humidity be adjusted, so you cannot regulate it independently of the air volume flow; it could become too humid in the house if the above-mentioned aspects already tend in that direction. You may also initially have problems getting the moisture out of a new building. The technical system should always be adapted to the overall situation of the future residents.
