Yes, because the local municipality didn’t bother to create a new development plan. That would have been work. Instead, two old development plans from opposite construction areas were mashed together. That’s how you end up with something like this.

We have just decided in the final stages of planning that we would like to get rid of the support post for the statics in our living area. I'm curious whether that is possible at no additional cost (probably not), or how much this fun could cost. There would then need to be more steel in the ceiling, and steel is not cheap at the moment.

Material price is one thing. The question is rather whether there are no visual disadvantages. Steel beams across the room are simple ;-) Otherwise, coverings and reinforced concrete supports in the outer wall help, but thanks to the covering, there are no floor-to-ceiling windows on the 1st floor above … and you will also clearly have cracks at the top.

No. I now know two specific cases.

Flat roof new building (3 floors) in a larger development area, all houses basically from the same developer. They all look pretty much the same. House finished for 2 years. Absurd.

New building, but the development plan includes a ban on street-facing photovoltaic systems. Back in 1870, such things didn’t exist, so today they are not allowed. The only problem is when the south side faces the street. The ridge orientation for a half-hipped roof is east/west and the next street is visible to the east. The north side is also not permitted because the photovoltaic modules could be seen from the east street.

The father of a friend, an entrepreneur, always drove only Peugeot 607s, and the son was only allowed to drive 3 Series BMWs, although any car in the world would have been possible, so that employees and representatives wouldn't get the idea to demand higher wages because the company was doing so well. I also drive around in an 11-year-old used car and complain in front of craftsmen about how expensive life is... it helps immensely in price negotiations!

How can you tell from the outside how well insulated the house is!? 36.5 cm aerated concrete and you don't need plastic/hazardous waste on the facade.
