The scaling is nonlinear. Not as extreme as with electricity, but it exists.

With 1-2 people, the washing machine or dishwasher often runs only half full. That never happens with 4 people.

You water the garden the same for one person as for 3, 4, or 10 people living in the household.

As I said. With electricity consumption it's more extreme. Whether one person watches or 20 doesn't matter to the TV. But with water, it also plays a role.

So if 20 people watch me shower, I have a much lower water consumption than with one (provided it’s the right one). (sorry not sorry) I could be wrong, but I think I haven’t paid any water consumption fees so far. I would have thought the water companies would get in touch by themselves, after the connection was made the bill came by itself anyway. I have to take care of it soon.

For us, these are also two different companies. Interestingly, one comes as a notification, the other as an invoice. So they also have different legal forms.

The four of us consume about 80 cubic meters of water per year and pay 99€ every 2 months for it.
