I was just at the timber trade and saw pellet sack goods there. When I asked if and when pellet summer prices could be expected this year, there was no answer at all.
They say to stockpile as much as possible, the ton was still heading towards 400€-450€, and a relaxation would only be expected next spring.
In addition to the general shortage, now there's the crazy Russian...
Whether it was scaremongering and was meant to encourage buying remains to be seen, in any case, I will call a few other dealers next week.
Doesn't surprise me now. Pellet heating hits exactly the sweet spot of high flow temperature (= compatible with old buildings without further renovation), supposed independence from rising energy prices, presumed environmental friendliness, and less effort than, for example, with firewood. Due to the elimination of oil tanks, space is not a problem in many old buildings.
