Construction costs are currently skyrocketing

I think any forecast is extremely difficult right now. The market hates uncertainty, the geopolitical situation and the economy are currently topsy-turvy. At the moment, decision-makers in construction projects have two options: floor the pedal or slam on the brakes. I think in a year, hopefully after the end of the war, things will be clearer again.

My brother had the same problem 5 weeks ago (for an additional photovoltaic system on the carport with about 9KWp). After I finally reached our solar installer after 4 weeks, he talked about 3-4 months lead time for a quote!, processing orders naturally even longer lead times. Then my brother called a well-known electrician and "only" ordered material, i.e. modules, inverter and wallbox. Since the carport had a trapezoidal sheet metal roof, installation by him + helper was not a problem. The electrician then connected everything, and the whole system only cost just over 10K including an "expensive" SMA wallbox (about 2K). From the decision to build the photovoltaic system to commissioning, only 3 weeks passed ;) Material would now also be difficult though, said the electrician, especially inverters barely available this year, modules also difficult or long delivery times (I think this is due to the Chinese, as they are currently building photovoltaic systems like crazy themselves and that’s why there are export restrictions?)

Currently Saxony-Anhalt... before Hamburg... before Freiburg... before Hamburg... before Berlin. Hamburg simply became too expensive for me, despite a relatively good normal income. When I now have to spend 30-40% of the household income on rent or mortgage... the alternative is to look for something cheaper.

Only where living is much cheaper are the well-paid jobs usually not available, or they are rarer. And also jobs that can be done entirely from home are not available to everyone, or are often blocked by old-fashioned bosses. If I were allowed to work 100% from home and could also do so from a family perspective (Patchwork), I might not even live in Germany.

Quick side question: what kind of carport is that where 9KWp fit on it?:)

Something like a 6x9 m one, probably...
