Who builds a house with a garden etc. for the children without a children's room? I don't get the discussion. Those are 'cheap' rooms.

Sounds really quite bad. Renting would only be an option for me if I had a reason to keep the house. But even then, I've been burned before; I rented out for 5 years, and it was just a nightmare. I'm so glad I was able to sell the house then. But it doesn't have to be that way; you just never know beforehand. Everything else is just weighing options: maybe move there after all?

Edit: Maybe this comment led to the misunderstandings. Of course, I did not "live" on the street or in the forest in the sense of actually residing on the street or in the forest. My home/parents/brother and I were/are indeed quite (petty) bourgeois.

I had this thought for a very long time; it was also my experience within my circle of acquaintances.

Many late repatriate parents, mostly workers, children who attained an academic education/further education via the second educational path. And today they can count themselves among the better earners.

But the reality is that money can buy education, which does not necessarily mean bribery, but rather tutoring, trips, materials, etc. It is easier for parents to provide something for their children with money. My ex wrote a diploma thesis about this in 2007 and fundamentally changed my opinion on it. I myself now notice it with our children; they attend dance classes, English lessons, etc. Even though they are just starting school.

By the way, until the age of 10, I slept in one room with my parents and my sister, who was 14 at the time. That was simply necessary because in Romania we only heated 1-2 rooms in winter. It definitely did not harm.

Greetings from Turkey... I even have my parents with me and it is great.

It’s also not just about money, but also the background. That surprised me when we last spoke with the future neighbors; they put a lot of thought into whether their daughter should go to the Gymnasium or not. Exact quote something like, "the grades are good enough for the Gymnasium but the demands are so high." Money for trips or tutoring probably wouldn’t be a problem; he is self-employed in the IT field. But he only went to the Hauptschule, and she, I think, was "only" at the Realschule. Gymnasium feels very different for them compared to academics.

Could an experienced user please contact a moderator to minimize these off-topic posts? It is really unbearable to have to read individual opinions on the size of children's rooms and the resulting development of children when one simply has an interest in the price development of building materials, craftsman services, and the like...

...maybe this is just the wrong thread I ended up in...
