Construction costs are currently skyrocketing

The biggest competition for McD and BurgerKing are bakeries. If a premium burger place opens somewhere, they really don't care. A good bakery has a direct impact.

I see no competition there: baker is breakfast, burger is lunch.

It is eaten after all. Whether we can afford the luxury of daily cake and sandwiches or even have the full range available at 5:30 pm is another matter.

I always thought so too, but it's actually not the case. Eckstein (after all, the best franchisee) has made this very clear several times. They immediately notice it in the sales figures.

I know. But that doesn’t make it any better. And if everyone joined in saving, a lot could be saved without it hurting. If someone wants something special, they can order it. But it would already help a lot if all stores were required not to throw anything away but to give away surpluses. I mean, that’s how it is in France. That could achieve a lot without anyone having to restrict themselves. By the way, it would also save energy.
