Actually yes, but of course these are then properties with certain characteristics that no one wants. Small garden, awkward floor plan, etc.

Town center for us is a row of houses on the left and right with a street running through the middle and a 100sqm garden at the back...

For plots in the town center vicinity, I definitely see the possibility

Any misunderstandings may be forgiven

This model is probably widespread. It would be very much to be hoped that the municipal council is wise enough to buy up plots of land, then consolidate them and subsequently sell them on at reasonably fair prices (preferably also large plots with apartment buildings + garden :p). Otherwise, I see a bleak future for the village and small-town centers.

I would just like to know where these dying town centers are everywhere. My husband and I have looked for something like that and haven't found it. Since, as already known, we moved to a completely new region (600 km away), we perhaps couldn't research, check, and search with the necessary intensity and persistence. However, if "town center" means a busy through street, then it becomes difficult.

Would you like to anonymously reveal what "in our area" means? Then I would take a look at the offers, because my husband and I are still quite open to a residential change. (Town center Leipzig would be our favorite. ;-) )

Besides, I think, why not give the town centers back to nature, new town centers will emerge. (Although I would also return the Ahr Valley to nature and relocate the people. ;-) )

I wouldn't either if I were you. We had no choice, but can live well with it.

Someone will immediately shout "forced relocation, that’s just not acceptable" And: "They have worked hard for their houses and properties for decades, and those over 80 happily tend their gardens there and feel free in their work" *g*

It's a pity I can only give one :). :)

(How nasty of you to point out my own contradictions. ;-) )
