A friend of mine put corrugated iron on a rental property, but it was a bungalow. Corrugated iron also lasts forever. It probably outlasts asbestos cement sheets....

100%, with normal rafter spacing. Tiles are only laid on battens anyway. You definitely need a sub-battening, if only for ventilation #Dewpoint and proper screwing. And a underlay membrane is nowadays also absolutely standard.

There are also sheets that look like tiles. If anything, I would take those. They can be made to length right away. They are just as walkable.
