To achieve the climate goals, only a healthy mix of gas and electrification will work anyway. Gas heaters are therefore indispensable. The focus here is more on existing buildings that still use old heating systems. They need to be replaced.

Although none of this has anything to do with the topic of construction costs, how do you come to the conclusion that gas heating systems contribute to climate targets and that they cannot be dispensed with? It unfortunately makes no sense.

What makes sense? Now, realistically speaking... So please don't come with heat pumps as the sole energy source ;)

I actually do see a conflict of objectives here when more people need housing but can't afford their rent. What I really hope is that there aren't too many people forced to live in cold apartments due to lack of funds. I know that from my grandparents and hoped such times would never return... which, in my opinion, is also unworthy of a "rich country (?)." I too am curious.

Not me, we build using timber frame construction. ;-)

Realism is sometimes mistaken for a lack of imagination and a refusal to question things down to the essentials. Sometimes also for clinging to the familiar.
