It may sound harsh, but perhaps it's time to slowly say goodbye to the standard that every child gets their own room. Children can also share a room. Simply adjust individual needs/dreams a bit to the circumstances.

I believe only some of our daycare kids who are German have their own room. Most share the room AT LEAST with a sibling. If necessary, the room is divided with tape....
They grow up anyway. Of course, there are some disadvantages to that.

My neighbor just bought heating oil at 1.35 per liter gross...
(At least to contribute somewhat to costs)

Today the company for the conservatory was here. It went down from 25.5k to 24.0k (just like that, on their part, no inquiry from us, even though we had some upgrades offered (more LEDs, a thick purlin to save a center post, better awning, stronger glass). The conservatory would be standing in 5 (!!!) weeks. I was amazed. We haven’t signed yet. Implementation would be at the latest half a year after the contract and that is too soon for us. For them, there is no material shortage or delivery difficulties....

And the parents have a 20 sqm bedroom and a dressing room? I would rather save in many other places before I would do that. I would personally sleep in the living room rather than have the kids share a room. Adapting demands to the circumstances is great, but never at the expense of the kids. There are enough other options.

What you are offering here as a solution is nothing other than leaving a part of society behind. Some sit with one child in 180 sqm with geothermal energy, and others have to divide the children's rooms with tape and wear two sweaters on top of each other... hopefully, you also built in a gated community then. Have fun with the distribution struggles.
The right solution would be to work towards a society that includes everyone as much as possible and where everyone benefits from rising prosperity.

Sorry for the indiscreet question: do you have children yourself?
