Exactly. With a fireplace, not only the entire living room and hallway heat up for us, but the bathroom also gets warmed at the same time, but only because the chimney runs along there. And the warmth from the stove is really quite special. Especially when it is very cold. It cannot be compared to a normal heater.

You don't have to clear everything away if you decorate properly. I have several large windows in the living room; in winter, the plants that will go outside in summer are standing in front of some of them. But it doesn't matter because it is enough to open just one window properly to ventilate. The same applies in other rooms; we have double-wing windows, so only one wing is opened, which is sufficient. Curtains don't have to be pulled aside for ventilation if they are correctly installed. Only drapes may have to be drawn back if necessary. But many people don't even have those anymore today.

We also ventilate. And gladly so. We have installed windows with fixed bottom lights specifically for more comfort. That way, you can ventilate and at the same time leave the decorations in place. Problem solved.

We have also made the lower part of a floor-to-ceiling window fixed and the top part openable. There’s also no problem that the profile and fixed glazing make the window smaller. With normal windows, I would only do that in the kitchen now.

By the way, today is another one of those days. I’ve had all the windows open for 10 minutes now but not a single breeze. When I walk through the apartment you can still feel the different temperatures where the air hasn’t exchanged yet. But presumably it’s all no problem if you do a sauna in the living room every evening ;)

When I have a day like that, I turn on my exhaust hood for 10 minutes in parallel. So I turn it on and then off immediately, because then the 10-minute after-run time starts and it switches off automatically. This way, the fresh air virtually pulls into the room. I have a very powerful exhaust hood.

We have a low-performance recirculation hood. And a ventilation system in the kitchen (because no window...) that is not very effective. Cheers to apartment construction! I don’t understand why everyone wants to leave the battery cage for the single-family house ;)
