We’re facing the same situation soon, a few things came together, so we didn’t buy the originally intended plot after all. Therefore, we will build on our current plot and will have to move temporarily. Subletting seems difficult, at least there’s currently nothing suitable. So we’re currently considering putting a container on site. May I ask how exactly you did that? Did you buy or rent the container? For rental, I only find long periods of 2 years. Also, containers need a foundation, and I would prefer something that you can just put down and then dismantle again, but that probably doesn’t exist. Or do you perhaps know more about that? You would help us a lot if you have any tips. Thank you :)

We had a completely normal office container. I bought it many years ago through classified ads, placed it on our plot, and clad it. Back then on a foundation made of curb stones. This time we had it moved on the plot because it was in the way of the house construction. This time, however, I only built a provisional foundation. Simple 30x30 paving slabs from the hardware store. Always 3 stacked, at the corner points of the container parking space and under the sides, in the middle on the narrow side, at 5 points along the long sides. The turf was cut out at the spots, the slabs were laid on the natural ground and leveled. It worked wonderfully and was also rock solid. And in spring we had it relocated to another plot, then simply removed the stones, leveled the earth, sowed grass, and you can’t see any trace of it anymore. Before that, we had a sturdy 4 x 4 m party tent as a kitchen. The whole set-up was next to a garage, which served as storage. And in the space between the garage and container there was a shower and toilet. We had that somewhat covered with a few sheets of metal.

Another focus lies in the selection of the construction company, whose boss should promise with a handshake to complete the new house within one summer, has relevant experience in the Berlin area. Who would want to spend the winter in a container next to a shell construction.

It is a small metal processing company from the town where we are building (BW) Gate with a width of 6500cm would definitely be a custom-made product.

No offense, but you will hardly hear any critical voices from the stove seller. If you want to deal with the topic, there was again an exciting podcast today on the subject on SWR2 Wissen. Overall, the ignorance of the forest burners is reminiscent of debates with smokers, who naturally claimed the right to harm others with their smoke, in pubs, trains, etc. But fortunately all that is history now. A shift in thinking is also slowly taking place regarding the nuisance caused by wood smoke. Unfortunately a bit late, at the moment the climate-, environment-, and health-damaging way of heating is even being subsidized.
