Because Amazon will take around a 10% commission, which the supplier will, of course, charge you as well. And because the building materials trade is rightfully a regional business due to the quantities and weights involved. I don’t seriously want a freight truck sent all across Germany just for four steel mats for a small pool. The one truck that brings the mats from the port to the building materials supplier is always included anyway. And then it’s just about 30 km or so from their warehouse to the actual construction site.Why not just buy reinforcing steel on Amazon? I mean, if it’s available and affordable? Normally, it’s not Amazon itself but a Marketplace partner, which might actually be a building materials supplier.
