Well. If only everyone who replaces their heating system swaps it for heat pumps, we will have 60 to 70% heat pumps in 10 years. Without any additional effort.

I am not completely up to date when it comes to heat pumps. They always make sense in new buildings, but what about unrenovated old buildings?

Roughly speaking, I would say: either switch to underfloor heating, insulate the house, or use geothermal energy (instead of air). In a completely unrenovated old building with radiators, using an air-to-water heat pump can otherwise be difficult or more expensive than oil/gas. Of course, you can also combine the individual points. In fact, points one and two should be seen as independent of the heating system. You should do that anyway. And anyone who hasn't done anything to their house in the last 20 years shouldn't blame the heat pump for that now. Energy-efficient renovation has been heavily subsidized for a long time.

The scenario is certainly desirable, but unfortunately unrealistic. It's like recommending that everyone switch from cars to bicycles. Insulating the building envelope also sounds very good at first. However, metropolitan areas like Hamburg, with its 80% listed buildings, have a huge problem.

Bad comparison. And the second point is purely political.

Regarding the higher construction costs, even if the following costs are only indirectly related to them:
- From the beginning of next year, we will have to pay custody fees/penalty interest (if we do not distribute the money from the sale of the old house across various accounts).
- The planned gas supplier is discontinuing its new customer advertising, meaning we have to expect higher connection costs.
These are all minor issues, but they do somewhat relate to the topic of "construction costs."
