I don’t.
But it referred to the fact that nowadays people go further and further just to get something cheaper instead of planning more down-to-earth. Otherwise, there are only expensively furnished houses, but deserted shops all around.

My kitchen is from Nolte, high-gloss wood doors, 6.60 meters with three tall cabinets, all with pull-outs (including the tall cabinets), a 1.80 meter wall cabinet including lighting, and an extra-thin countertop. Including appliances (steam oven, oven, dishwasher, induction, standard extractor hood) 10,000€. However, that was in 2013, so for today’s conditions add 10–15%. Ikea would have been more expensive.

Sorry, I’ve rarely read bigger nonsense. You also think that the goods from H&M, C&A and Amazon are made exclusively in Germany, don’t you? And your LG/Samsung/Philips TV comes from a factory near Berlin. Sure. Just look at all the furniture where it is made. Even expensive ones mostly come from Poland. And why should I go to the middleman if I can ask the producer directly?

Correct - IKEA produces in low-wage countries; however, the German kitchen manufacturers do not. Suppliers for certain fronts are partly located in other EU countries - like Spain & Italy; but these are also not low-wage countries.

Where do YOU think Nolte produces its furniture?

So in OWL and the surrounding areas, there are an incredible number of furniture as well as kitchen manufacturers. They do this here in Germany.

Kitchens from OWL:
Nobilia
Häcker
Poggenpohl
Nolte
etc.

I see their trucks driving on the country roads here every day. Nobilia has 2 huge plants on the A2 near Gütersloh/Verl and Häcker is in Rödinghausen. My father worked until 5 years ago for a fronts manufacturer, so a supplier for the kitchen industry. The pure presswood, I agree with you, was a larger procurement market.

Google “Küchenmeile” for that.

The same goes for furniture: Möbel-Meile is the keyword.
A lot comes from my area and it is German quality craftsmanship. However, it is also true that there is a considerable margin for the furniture and kitchen studio sales channels.

So, Ikea produces an enormous amount in Germany. If nothing has changed, for example, Pax, Metod kitchens, Kallax are produced in Germany. The countertops once came from Lechner, the fittings in the kitchen still come from Hettich. Hettich produces the fittings on the same machines as, for example, Poggenpohl – the same material and the same quality. Only sometimes with less functionality. The induction cooktop with extraction is from Franke. Etc. There is a lot of quality from Germany in it.
