The problem with such meadows is that they are not green in winter. And they do need some water too. We have an example right now, the neighbor died about 8 weeks ago, and since then no watering has been done. It looks terrible, and he only had grass with other plants too. Not filling the pool means a massive restriction of quality of life. And then I drive to the lake every day and use petrol. Better? It doesn't matter to the Baltic Sea if water is taken, it has an inflow from the other oceans, it balances out globally, the sea level is (apart from tides) the same everywhere. On the contrary: taking water from the seas could do good to the rising sea level.
Water from the Baltic Sea? Great idea... just so the garden can be watered and the fields irrigated where feed for factory farming is produced. And what consequences does that have for the Baltic Sea?? I think it's entirely right that no water should be taken for the pool or the English lawn. My husband also wants to reseed our lawn area because we have little real grass in between. I have vetoed it because it has so many advantages. The clover is for the bees, moss and the rest of the scruffy stuff need little water and it still stays green and soft. And besides, you have to mow less.
