In my opinion, this is an important indication that it is already being practiced and is not so dramatic. It is unfortunate that this information remains unmentioned in the article.

If you have a separate meter for heating or drive electricity, this is always the case. The network operator has the right to switch you off for load smoothing; in return, you pay a bit less. Regular household electricity is not controllable because the operator does not know what is behind it. Unless you have smart stuff that communicates the information to the operator.
Of course, this is not mentioned in such articles, because then the article is no longer even a storm in a teacup ;)

Thank you for the lively discussion. We were on a city trip to Hamburg, which is why I am only writing now. We will discuss it again with the energy consultant, but I think the [ST] is set. As mentioned, we live in an old building and are renovating it step by step; the [ST] does not take up space for a later photovoltaic system and can therefore be combined with it. For us, this is currently a good solution in combination with the gas heating, and all friends with old buildings and [ST] have reported only positive experiences even after several years of use.

Unexpectedly, our project has finally gained momentum. The cost estimate from the construction company is coming this week, we have a structural engineer, the plumber has now submitted his offer as mentioned, and through the structural engineer, we have come into contact with an energy consultant. After 5 months, finally some movement in the matter! If everything works out, it will start after Easter.

I have been getting red roses for my wife for her birthday for what feels like 20 years. Maybe not last year because of Corona, but today the lady wanted 112 € for 20 red roses with a bit of greenery.

I know this is about construction costs, but somehow it reflects all price increases.

Even though I also consider the price too expensive, the subjective perception is very deceptive. What time frame and what scale are you using here? If I consider two years for fueling, fuel is insanely expensive. If I consider one year, the price has changed little to none. If I consider half a year, I think: "Yeeehaaaaa! Fill up the car and take pointless laps past the ice cream shop - it won’t get cheaper!"

Therefore, it’s all relative...

I give my wife as many red roses on each anniversary as the number of years we have been married. When I see these prices, I have to consider from which year a divorce would be cheaper :-/
Alternatively, I could come up with a new system, something like a white rose counts for 5 or 10 years and then fill up the rest with red... ...but the longer I think about it, the more I’m not sure if that’s too complicated to calculate and if I shouldn’t just get divorced...
