If transport and CO2 are given a price, then it will be better regulated. A certain market control is also necessary in capitalism. When exporting, one should at least ensure that domestic demand is met before going to other countries.

And environmental and health damages must also be factored in. The problem is that companies would not simply swallow this and reduce their margin, but in the end it is always borne by the consumer. So it affects the weaker members of society again.

If everyone did that, many products would become more expensive or scarce here as well. The globalization of trade cannot have only advantages. We rarely notice the disadvantages. And increasingly more often, since we no longer count among the strongest paying countries.

We in Western Australia live off iron ore, which is dug up here and shipped to China. Demand has never been higher (ok, there is also slightly less coming from Brazil), the Chinese government has x huge major projects in the works to boost the economy again. The peak price of iron ore is currently US193.85 per tonne, never been this high, similar to 2011. The price is expected to rise above US200. In 2018, one tonne cost about US60. Therefore, economically, Corona more or less passes us by here. My government can afford to let no one in or out, stop return flights, distribute money among the population.
