As funny as all this sounds - a problem becomes apparent: only the production costs and processes are ever evaluated, but the damages are not taken into account - these are shifted onto the general public. Ultimately, a fundamental problem with our understanding of ownership: I can do whatever I want with it - but am not liable for the consequences. That would also be too expensive for all of us. And nobody actually wants to start. Humans simply prefer to be the villain rather than the fool (I tend to as well). As long as we operate within an economy-oriented system, damages must have a price tag to change behavior. Unfortunately, voluntariness no longer works.

As Albert Einstein said:
"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity. But with the universe I am not quite sure yet."

And even though many label the Greens as the party of bans (I am not a Green voter), it can’t be done any other way than with bans/restrictions. I see that, for example, with the Corona vaccinations. Many friends get vaccinated because they now have to pay for the tests and can no longer fly on vacation so easily....

Thank you. We are (still) very relaxed because our house is small and affordable. For example, 20 sqm of natural stone for the hallway and kitchen hurts, but not as much as 100 sqm of area.

Maybe we should all step out of our comfort zone a little and get our hands "dirty." Many things simply have no value. We would need pigs that consist of 50% loin, but without a head – electricity comes from the socket (maybe the follow-up costs really should be made visible) – long-distance travel and the twentieth T-shirt are necessary, but please cheap, who wants to wear the same clothes three years in a row.

Also with the houses. What would our grandparents/great-grandparents say if they saw our plans and our sense of entitlement? From their perspective, no wonder houses are no longer affordable. They would not throw out the heating, they still know how hard it is to chop wood, to empty ash trays, etc., non-drafty windows would also still find favor. However, the size, the many "technical gimmicks," and the outdoor facilities geared toward leisure.

Whether small or not, 10% more costs are 10% more than budgeted.

Let's put it this way, friends of ours had to reduce their house plan by a quarter after the price adjustments became known. That was about 150,000 more. There won't be a garage for the time being either. And the fittings are also being significantly cut back. At one point, selling the plot of land was even being considered because the homeowner felt she wouldn't be happy in such a house.
