The garages (according to the original plan or now just a special request) all had a back door. Although I always wondered how useful that really is when I'm standing in front of the locked patio door. So useful for garden tools, but if I really want to drive away, I still have to go out the front or tell someone else "please close the patio door after me." That was actually one of the reasons for choosing the end terraced house (while "oh god, you have TWO neighbors" didn't really bother us – we were used to rents in apartment buildings :D).

Right, I hadn’t even thought about the patio door yet. But there must definitely be ones that can be locked from the outside. Although with a layout like that, I would actually consider putting a second door in the garage at the back as well. Direct access to the garden will pay off sooner or later.

Then it’s always the question whether the developer will go along with it. At least it doesn’t seem to be planned initially and possibly problematic due to the second escape route or something? But yes, if that would work, I would definitely find it attractive. We have now ended up with the somewhat stubby semi-detached house on the far left (the one on the right was already taken at that time, although they might have withdrawn... that would actually have been a consideration too. But it’s also a bit problematic because on that side the noise protection is somewhat questionable due to the railway and industrial area)

We were now a bit surprised by the hedge towards the street, which apparently the city required and must then be kept by us  So we had planned to plant something there but actually not such a 2-meter monster. (Well, everyone to their own taste, it just wouldn’t have been my choice) I also find it a bit unfortunate because I actually thought "hey, we have a 7m garage with a door at the back, that’s great for storing bicycles." Which still works clearly, only now the access to the street from there is a bit inconvenient? Well, maybe you can still negotiate with the city for a hedge arch instead of a closed hedge... I think that would only be possible afterward though, which is a bit annoying ;)

During the second lockdown, I can still remember 95.9 cents per liter of diesel!
