In Spain, there are wind turbines without rotor blades. You can look it up. There is also a statement from Germany corresponding to ’s assumption:

"Criticism comes from Germany In Germany, wind power supporters view the project critically. Upon request, the Federal Association of Wind Energy stated: “With the globally established wind turbines with three rotor blades, we have an inexpensive, powerful, and mature technology.” The turbines in Spain, however, still have to prove themselves; it is not possible to assess “whether they are sensible regarding efficiency and costs.”

Meanwhile, prototypes tested in Spain have already proven that the concept works. Although the energy yield is about 30 percent lower than that of a comparable wind turbine, the vortex columns are 40 percent cheaper to purchase and about 80 percent cheaper in maintenance."

Wind turbines used to be subsidized. And yes, they are relatively loud, at least the old ones, but 1 km is exaggerated.

Oh yes, if we simply "only" replaced the existing wind turbines with the latest version each time, much would be gained.

On the topic of volume, I can only say that a few years ago we went hiking in the Black Forest and stayed overnight on the Hornisgrinde (without a tent, just the sleeping mat on the ground). When we arrived, there was no wind, but at night a thunderstorm came and you could hear the turbines very loudly. I wouldn’t want that continuously. I just measured it, we are talking about over 600m for a 120m wind turbine, so >5H. No one who has to live there themselves would want to move it to 2H near residential buildings.

And what are they supposed to say within a radius of 20 km around the airports and approach paths (F/S/B…)?
