There are now also new types of wind turbines that make significantly less noise and are overall much more efficient with only slightly less maximum power. But there is probably some lobby again (most likely the wind turbine industry).

In Spain, there are wind turbines without rotor blades. You can look it up. There is also a statement from Germany corresponding to ’s assumption:

Oh yes, if we simply "only" replaced the existing wind turbines with the latest version each time, much would be gained.

On the topic of volume, I can only say that a few years ago we went hiking in the Black Forest and stayed overnight on the Hornisgrinde (without a tent, just the sleeping mat on the ground). When we arrived, there was no wind, but at night a thunderstorm came and you could hear the turbines very loudly. I wouldn’t want that continuously. I just measured it, we are talking about over 600m for a 120m wind turbine, so >5H. No one who has to live there themselves would want to move it to 2H near residential buildings.
