My rule is: What I can quickly remove again if I don’t like it, I do myself. Laminate, click parquet, paving, terrace, carport. Unscrew a few screws and do it again.

If I have to stick something "permanently" to the wall or floor, then I like to leave it to the professional. Unless it’s about the HAR.

Even laying tiles is out of the question for me in the living area, we did it in the basement after all. You can do it, it’s enough for down there, but definitely not in the living area. There I want perfectly straight tiles and proper baseboards with stainless steel finish. Besides, my back was already at its limit after 2 rooms in the basement. I’m also happy to pay a fair price, but no extortionate prices.

Now I was finally able to look at the invoice:
Grout was also extra

Everything mentioned so far was for our open plan room, outside the construction service description.

Within the construction service description for the bathrooms, we also had some extras, because who would have thought, rails or even base tiles are not part of the scope of services.

This added up to the following:

Cutting and attaching base tiles: 20€/m
Sealing membrane in the shower instead of normal bituminous insulation: 35€ per shower wall
4 hours for laying rails at 45€ each
Surcharges for bathtub shelf and shower niche, 80€ each
....
Altogether, this then added up to over 6400€ extra for the tiler. We supplied the tiles for the open plan room ourselves because that was a separate contract with the tiler. Everything else went only through the tiler and was correspondingly expensive (Quadec rails, we could have saved a lot if we had procured them ourselves)
But the tiler did a good job and I enjoy our beautiful tiles during the breaks between filling, sanding, and painting.

Unfortunately, a high price for the tiler does not necessarily mean high quality. Whether the tiles actually lie as straight as desired is another matter entirely.

And another problem, at least in the past, was simply finding a tiler at all. They prefer tiling 100 sqm of industrial hall rather than a 6 sqm bathroom. I usually had to lay my tiles myself. Simply because the tilers did not want to take on my relatively small orders.

Our first construction company recently sent us a letter. It is possible to refer construction prospects and we would receive a bonus for a contract concluded with you. We built with them in 2020. I don’t know if they have done this before or if this is now a new way to improve the order situation. I suspect the latter, perhaps another sign that demand is declining given the current price and interest rate developments?

They did it before, now again.
We are also receiving house construction catalogs in the mail again because we checked in 2021.
Our general contractor for the renovation is also extremely flexible and considerate (has not received any order yet).
So it looks like the market is currently shifting back towards the customer.
