Before I freeze at 18°C in the living room, I’d rather keep stoking the fire for 15-20€ worth of wood per month. But everyone is different, and if that doesn’t bother you, that’s totally fine. It would definitely be too cold for me, but I’m also a cold person. And with 2 small children playing on the floor all day, that’s out of the question for me, even if I wouldn’t mind it.

Unfortunately, we only have the gas heating; the tiled stove will not be installed until 2023. Until then, we are relying exclusively on gas. At the current price, we could turn on the heating; I see it more as a contribution to the general situation, and yes, I am cold, but let's be honest, no one young and healthy has died at 18°C in the living room. First-world problems^^.

How do you manage to get temperatures that low - even in an old building? Today it’s just 23 degrees in the old building. With the sun we've had lately, anyone should be sitting at least comfortably warm to very warm in their place.

Temperature this morning in the home office after not heating over the warm weekend in the unrenovated old building (only renovation 2017 new double-glazed windows): 16.5°C. The apartment below us is empty and heated little or not at all, northeast side, unheated bedroom next door.

Temperature yesterday noon in the currently unoccupied and unheated house with external insulation: 16°. It has been below 14 before, with insulation it of course doesn’t heat up so quickly. In the attic it was nicely warm :P

Well, I definitely have to watch the money too, but 18° in the living room and 16.5° in the HO would be far too little for me.

It was very cold here in September and we have not been here for over 2 weeks now. The house was already cooled down from September when we left. We have no windows facing south. And since we have good insulation, it does not warm up quickly. Upstairs it is a good 20 degrees and certainly even more in the attic. But towards the basement it is not insulated and it only has 14 degrees, practically all year round.
