What I am currently being told from many sides about the construction costs is that there are apparently massive windfall effects. Everyone assumes that certain supply bottlenecks will soon be resolved, and the cash cow just has to be milked long enough. For a smaller terrace project, I now have a 6-week lead time for the walls and painters/plasterers, and 8-10 weeks until the metalworker will be finished (we are still in the bidding phase).
For the stones to be procured, it comes down to old bricks. That already reassured the mason, because then he won’t have to be annoyed by usury again.
