Hello,

Basically, all different heating systems are available for you to choose from. The question is whether you can consider rather low acquisition costs and somewhat higher running costs or also higher acquisition costs within the budget. Currently, gas condensing boilers offer a good balance, as the acquisition costs are usually the lowest and the running costs also show advantages compared to oil heating. Other heating systems such as combined heat and power plants or heat pump solutions certainly allow for even lower running costs, but the significantly higher acquisition costs must be realized over the usage period. Additionally, the question arises as to how much effort you want to have with the heating system. Solid fuel boilers certainly mean more effort in operation compared to gas condensing boilers or heat pumps. Therefore, also consider here what effort is desired now but especially also in 20 years. Therefore, the conclusion is that there is no absolutely right system based on your information, but especially the work involved and the costs can be constraints that already narrow down the selection.

Best regards Erik

Hello Erik,

thank you for your assessment. I don’t want to sacrifice much space for the oil tank or wood / pellets storage. So basically, only the gas condensing boiler technology or heat pump remain. What bothers me about the heat pump is the lack of long-term experience (20 years) and of course the high initial costs. The gas condensing unit can be replaced cheaply and easily in case of a defect. How do you actually see the future price development of gas? In the USA, prices are currently dropping like crazy.

Regards, Fabian

Hello,
Reason for this?
Absolutely nothing! Overall, the whole thing seems a bit strange. If the garage is heated, it is proportionally part of the building. It is quite surprising that the heating load here is just as high despite a significantly lower room temperature. Furthermore, space heating loads should not be compared with the standard heating load of a building!
Operating a garage with almost the same heating energy demand as a residential building is indeed somewhat peculiar!

Best regards.

Hello,

the reason why the low flow temperature in the garage does not bring much is the use of too many radiators. The garage should only be able to be heated sporadically (as needed). So frost-free in the garage is clear, but for example on weekends also sometimes 15 degrees (heated as quickly as possible).

What would you recommend or say about this?

Isn't there already a contradiction in that? ;-) Also, verbal statements are mostly pointless, so let's take a look at the calculation! ;-)
Actually, everything has been said. The whole thing seems more likely to tend towards a botched system overall. Better consult a sales-independent HVAC planner!

Best regards.

Hello,

So I would also recommend that you have a heating load calculation done again, preferably for both cases, i.e. garage frost-free only and garage heated to the desired room temperature. And I also doubt whether it really makes sense to "connect" two such different flow temperatures, especially since you certainly don’t need large radiating surfaces for the lower temperatures in the garage. The question then is whether you plan an electric heater for the garage and quick warming up, and only use the gas heating for basic heating and maintaining the temperature.

Best regards
