I see this as the key to success. Have a proper plan made: 1) You need it for the building permit application 2) Details in the execution are described, which you as a layperson try to answer yourself (no offense!!!) 3) based on a plan, offers are requested that are also easier to compare 4) all trades work towards the same goal because there is a clear specification.

You generally don’t just get in the car and drive off without a destination/plan!

We paid just under 1000 euros for our design (despite no approval required). It was money well spent and everyone works according to it. I would do it again, since I am also a layperson.

Yep -->

Thanks for all the advice! Very helpful. I have to admit, I'm having a bit of trouble finding/searching for the right professional for the garage project. Because ideally, I think it would be best to submit the building application for the house and garage at the same time.
But maybe I'll still find a prefabricated garage provider who will put up the garage for 10,000 euros.

I'm really trying to find the cheapest solution (for me), since I don't really want to spend that much on a garage, it's just for the car and stuff.

Better play the lottery and pay the difference to the dream price from the winnings – you can’t just wish it away, not even with your own labor. Apart from the fact that you avoid the current daily prices for gold garages caused by the boom, the thing won’t get that much cheaper by pure self-construction alone. The savings are on the order of a discount, not on the order of a decimal shift or at least halving, as many dreamers wish.

Better spend the time on something nice, for example walking along the river.
Right now, everything you touch in the construction industry is just expensive. There are no bargains; the question is rather which provider offers the lowest extra-extra surcharge. They certainly don't have 10.... in front.
Doesn't make much fun as a buyer/building owner, but that's how it is.

I've noticed that too. I've even hunted in lightweight halls, but they are too big. You no longer pay loan interest, but the construction industry charges accordingly. Oh dear, if interest rates rise significantly again.....

I can give you my prices since I am still fully involved at the moment. It is a garage with a carport. A total of 49.x sqm with a gable roof (15 degrees) and concrete stones like on the residential house:

    [*]Planning was already mentioned
[*]12,000 shell construction - 24 Poroton including foundation, ring beam, T-beam, roof truss)
[*]1,500 wooden paneling, battens, roof lathing
[*]1,500 roof tiles and verge boards
    [*]600 friendly roofer
[*]400...500 gutter, eaves ridges, small stuff
[*]1,700 side entrance door & garage door
    [*]200 wooden structure gable
[*]250 roof insulation and attic ladder (eBay classifieds - otherwise around 600)

What is still missing are interior and exterior plaster, paving inside, ceiling (probably drywall) and electrical sub-distribution.

Our neighbors mainly want prefabricated garages and are around 15-20k.

We want to stay under 25k. It is more expensive, but solid, individual and proper.
