We have a painted steel plate that we place in front of the stove during the heating season. The floor throughout the room is parquet. Since we light the stove anyway, we don’t take out the steel plate separately. The design of the stove includes a bench and a ledge made of about 20 cm wide graywacke. In 2 years, not a single glowing piece has fallen from the chimney to the floor, and certainly no sparks. On vinyl, a heavy plate will leave an imprint; perhaps such a plate can also be installed flush.
