The storage systems are not being "bad-mouthed," they are simply not worth their current price. I now have several concrete offers for my system; depending on the model/provider, the cost per kWh extracted from the storage roughly ranges between €0.50 and €1.00. That is two to three times as much as you pay for grid electricity, depending on the provider’s tariff and usage type. I actually really wanted one of those devices, but no manufacturer guarantees more than 5,000 to 6,000 charging cycles, and if you make a real full cost calculation based on that, you can easily pay for 10 years’ worth of firewood for the fireplace from the extra expenses, massively lowering the electricity costs of the heat pump in winter by burning it, and still have a cozy flicker in the fireplace every evening from November to March. At least that way, burning money is fun! In any case, I have for the time being stepped back from the desire for storage; I am having the photovoltaic system prepared for a later retrofit and will wait about 5 years to see if the devices then come to market at reasonable prices. Only then will a decision be made. Such a photovoltaic system does not necessarily have to yield a profit, but it also doesn’t have to destroy money – and that is exactly what every storage system does at today’s prices.
