Build a semi-detached house alone?

Well, I would prefer a semi-detached house with a nice view over our single-family house on a tiny plot, where you are boxed in by 7 neighbors.

Why would anyone put up with a semi-detached house, it has no advantages at all, especially you don’t save anything because there is no joint project. But you have all the disadvantages for years.

Maybe the development plan requires it. Not everyone lives in the East with infinitely large plots of land that cost nothing. Addendum: I would put insulation on the neighbor’s side and leave it there, hoping it brings additional soundproofing. I can hear my neighbors walking on the stairs... and their children are even much louder when they jump down the stairs. Otherwise, I hear nothing at all, zero. These are houses from the 60s with a thin Heraklith board between the houses. I'm sure they do it better nowadays.

In my opinion, a better location is also worth more than the advantage of being unique.
Overall, I see the disadvantages of semi-detached or terraced houses as clearly manageable.
It solely depends on the neighbors what the situation is like; the building form hardly plays a role here.

Apart from that, semi-detached houses inherently make much better use of the existing plot area, resulting in more usable garden/terrace space or less land consumption for the same living comfort.

So if I look at the towel-sized plots we have here, a "detached" single-family house is a bad joke. All surfaces paved, garden not worth mentioning. I would rather go for a semi-detached house then.
