That’s not so far-fetched. We are currently going through this with our architect in the calculation for the Energy Saving Ordinance. A domestic hot water heat pump – available for about €1000 - 1500 – could ensure that when using gas heating combined with controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery, no solar system is needed. And then it’s not exactly "not smart" ;)

By preheating, is referring to such a construct?

Which KfW standard are you aiming for or just the Energy Saving Ordinance? Also calculate the costs of the floor space, the labor, maintenance, and consumption costs (electricity instead of sun). I find it a strange idea to install a heat pump next to a 12kW burner. But if the regulation demands it ... as long as it has a (pseudo) renewable share, or where does the motivation come from?

That's exactly what I meant.

Not to acquire solar thermal. I think it simply won't be economical. There are also combination / hybrid devices. The heat pump operates during the time without heating. As soon as more is needed, the condensing boiler takes over.

I'm currently reading up on this topic.

Me? Only Energy Saving Ordinance. Of course, you have to factor that in somewhere, but then I also have to offset the buffer tank for the solar system including the costs of the system. Assuming a flat rate of €5,000 is not a bad idea, I think.
So the initial investment would save between €3,500 and €4,000.

The footprint will probably be less rather than more, as such a buffer is not exactly small.
Work?
Maintenance exists with every heating system.
I assume consumption costs of €200/year for domestic hot water heating, which can never be covered 100% by the solar system. It still takes 15 to 20 years until I have used up the savings. Rather 20, since the solar system produces nothing in winter and little in autumn and spring.

It is of course not a cure-all and I must admit that I have not really dealt with it until now, but it is at least worth considering.

That is why I wanted to start the discussion.

I would like to compare the advantages and disadvantages of the systems.

We also only want to build according to the [Energieeinsparverordnung].

Is one actually forced to supplement gas in such a way? I was only able to quickly google and didn’t get any wiser, as the statements could also be outdated. But I had the impression that gas alone is barely sufficient due to the primary energy demand. However, controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery (if desired anyway) would still be accounted for. Wouldn't that then be enough?
