For BAFA funding, the heat pump must be listed in the corresponding list and a specialist contractor declaration for the calculation of the annual performance factor must be available; there is also a BAFA form for this, in which the executing company enters the hot water and heat demand as well as the model, from which a theoretical annual performance factor results. If this is above (or equal to) 4.5, the subsidy is granted, otherwise not. Practice afterwards is considered irrelevant.
Combination of pellet and air-to-water heat pump: Primarily energy-wise, a bivalently operated air-to-water heat pump can make sense and BAFA funding is not excluded here if the secondary energy source is renewable. This applies to pellets.
Overall, the whole thing naturally becomes more expensive, so the savings are of no use. If you want a fireplace in the living area, it is certainly the most ecologically clean solution and also more comfortable compared to the classic wood stove. But do not underestimate the space requirements for the additionally larger storage tank and the pellet storage.
