Well, exactly not, that's why I'm asking if all of this is really proper.

Hello, What expectations did you have? Besides, I hardly believe that the parents had underfloor heating with a heat pump as the heat source. Of course, you can also generate the supply temperature for underfloor heating with a heat pump so that your feet are reasonably warm. However, you shouldn't really look at the electricity meter or expect to be able to afford this desire with high consumption costs. Basically, you can't have everything; everything has advantages and disadvantages. To my knowledge, the perfect solution has not been invented yet. Already in the planning stage, premises must be set, needs clarified, and weighed against each other (basic determination). Anyone who really wants warm feet should rather forego a heat pump as a heat source. Moreover, the underfloor heating surfaces then look somewhat different! Best regards

Thank you very much for the (slightly sensational) answer, which completely missed my original question, but okay. I am well aware that there is no egg-laying-wool-milk-sow and that not everyone in the world is an "energy consultant" who knows all this by heart and can recite it. Because if everyone knew everything, this forum would be unnecessary...

Alright then, topic closed, I know what I wanted to know, thank you very much.

Oh, and yes, my parents had a heat pump from 1998, although combined with an oil heating system, but I still can’t remember feeling about 5°C on the tiles... not even at 20°C outside temperature.

Tiles made of ceramic and the like are cold! Yes! Also to the touch! But whether it’s a heat pump or gas... why should the heating turn on when the thermostats are set to 20 degrees and the outdoor temperature is 20 degrees?

Wood is warmer, and is often chosen specifically because of the perceived warmth underfoot, just like cork and linoleum.
In return, ceramic heats more consistently and has a "faster" efficiency, if you can even say that about underfloor heating.

If you want to have warmer feet, I would simply set 25 degrees in the bathroom and experiment a bit.
Whether that is a disadvantage with a heat pump, I can’t say because I have never dealt with it.

@ypg Yes, but according to my understanding, there must be a heat flow to maintain the 20°, because the reaction time of the underfloor heating is quite slow, so "switching off" or for the room when the temperature is reached is pointless. Only now it surprises me that although there should actually be a flow, the floor is ice cold.

Presumably, the heating in the room is currently completely off because it is not needed. Outdoor temperature is high enough / Other consumers are heating / Solar gains etc.
