Repairing the door made it even "worse"

Fine scratches in the plastic can be polished. If I interpret the picture correctly, it has already been retouched. Whether the subsequently applied paint on colored plastic can also be polished? unfortunately, no idea.

Makes sense. Even the hundredth time it's the same. Steel is and remains harder than PVC.

Apart from the fact that such material combinations are better clipped or glued: how do you even come up with the ideas,

- a) to save the cost of the fingerprint scan gimmick by downgrading the door to plastic and

- b) to mount the scan unit in/on the door instead of offset, for example in the doorbell panel?

Fingerprint scan is not just a gimmick, but very useful. For example, the cleaning lady can only enter the house between 9 and 11 :)

Thanks for the "helpful" answer. Even if you think so, it is not "logical" that you always scratch them, because the scratches were caused by incorrect installation by the installing company. The cover panel is also clipped. Hooked or slipped on at the top and clipped in at the bottom.

We did not choose a plastic door for saving costs, but because we like it better. Even with an aluminum door, the paint or something similar would have been scratched as well, because, to repeat for you, the cover panel was incorrectly installed by the employee. Furthermore, I see no advantage in the positioning as you suggest it. Regardless, we also could not choose it ourselves. But none of this has anything to do with the topic. Thanks anyway.

Exactly. It doesn't happen when clipping, but if you slide sharp steel edges over PVC, it scratches. Always. So also with every further fix-worsening attempt again.

I meant less the usefulness itself. I can have that with RFID too, small enough to fit conveniently on the cleaning lady’s keychain. I can even open the door from my pocket and don’t have to put down the heavy shopping bags to tap my finger on the scanner like E.T. But that would happen invisibly.

The actual gimmick about the scanner is therefore that you can see it. And that makes an impression when the theater season ticket neighbors Hoppenstedt come for dinner. Holleradudödeldi.

What kind of argument is that? Do you really think I install fingerprint because of the neighbors? Do I really have to list countless arguments against RFID now? Or is just one enough? I can lose/ have an RFID chip stolen.

We certainly install one gimmick or another... but the fingerprint is not one of them.
