I have always been rather bold with colors too.....sometimes even too "bold"! In my former house, we were taken with the then latest craze - fresh from the trade fair - a super expensive green Hoesch bathtub and washbasins with "ears," similar to the huge tiles usually displayed today in the entrance area of tile stores.....always the trendiest. We then had bright red tiles and red fixtures to match the color (so said the Italian designer on the flyer). It didn’t bother us at all; we got used to it and even found it amusing. Nevertheless, it was way too expensive (because it was trendy), and whenever I went into other bathrooms, I realized that my next bathroom would have calm colors and I would rather bring in color with interchangeable items. At that time, we also had the tall tubular radiators painted differently by the car painter.....o_O What I want to say is: with all due understanding for boldness in color, I would NOT do that in unchangeable areas (e.g., tiles), but with plaster, for example, I could even imagine being really bold. I have the "suspicion" that because you have seemed somewhat discouraged for some time, maybe something particularly forceful is supposed to be done here in the bathroom, where in my opinion more thoughtfulness would be called for, and then you can try out the plastered walls, crazy bathroom furniture, etc. The idea (the misconception) that a bathroom can be designed afterwards, we also had at the time and had a large room with sanitary objects on every wall. I would also advise against that (also to your husband). Years later, we made two bathrooms out of it or gave the bedroom an en-suite bathroom, which was great. You can still plan and cost your bathroom nicely.......still..... why shouldn’t you both agree on something?
