Yvonne .. A sink centered in front of the window destroys a crucial advantage ... allowing the countertop to run into the window reveal and having a really great preparation area in front of the window there.

Cutlery drawer in the peninsula, you can easily access that with a dishwasher with a cutlery basket.

Hmm, well... I have to admit that many work steps in the kitchen are shaped by habits. Since I, for example, don’t have to take out the cutlery basket in my kitchen, I imagine it would be cumbersome to have to open the drawer above the flap and keep the order when closing it. While you, for example, see the stove as a dirt magnet, for me it’s the sink where used items are temporarily stored during preparation. Although I do see the advantage of a generously sized workspace towards the back, personally, the shifted arrangement would bother me every day (and several times at that). In ’s planned kitchen, probably, even if unplanned, the coffee machine and kettle will stand to the right of the sink -> short distances to fetch water. Therefore, just my suggestions to examine everything in terms of usability. To me, the planning seems somewhat lacking based on these illustrations. But I am also curious to see how it will look when finished – and if it will work. Our kitchen works well – unfortunately I have one drawer too few... simply forgotten, so quite a bit had to be repurposed in reality. Luckily, I hadn’t planned a pull-out cabinet yet, so it came into use. It’s totally individual whether someone gets by with one oil and one pan, or owns a whole range of oils, vinegars, and spices and fries with several pans suited to the dish. As far as I remember, doesn’t have a pantry or utility room that could still house appliances. In that respect, the corners of the kitchen could still be used... Pull-outs are very practical, but not for everything.

Thanks again for the numerous tips. Somehow we are not making progress with the final planning... today we went to the furniture store to have a few things changed again - unfortunately the consultant had no time.. we go to the sampling center to choose interior doors - no one was there either -.- I think we will go with gray doors

But back to the kitchen - the Ikea planning had the mentioned symmetry:

We had two ideas for kitchen appliances and arrangements of the base cabinet with the waste system:

What I currently need the most for waste and sink is our fully automatic machine. The dishwasher was planned on the right of the sink in both variants.

In both Ikea variants, the base cabinet with a waste system is impractical:

Dishwasher door open and you can only get to either the trash or the water (to pour out leftovers).

And here:

A base cabinet with a waste system should be under a free work surface so you can prepare there and immediately push trimming scraps into the trash. And a base cabinet with a waste system should be at the main work surface, usually between the sink and the cooktop. In this variant, I would then choose a sink without a drainer or the drainer facing the other way.

Personally, I don’t like dishwashers right at my main work surface, but rather always next to it. Then I can also leave it open when a lot is being processed and I want to immediately store items that are no longer needed there.

The kitchen is a bit of a tricky one .. the point of the sink by the window is also that you can easily prepare with two people, one between the cooktop and the sink and the other at the peninsula. Both positions have easy access to water, which you often need during preparation (washing vegetables, cleaning knives or boards, washing hands, etc.)

With an Ikea variant, I would probably place the dishwasher in the peninsula and next to it a 40 cm base cabinet with cutlery drawers, etc.

And on the window side then an 80 cm sink cabinet, 40 cm base cabinet with waste system, 80 cm pull-out base cabinet. Then you can also choose a somewhat wider basin and a narrow one. I always think of the
BLANCO AXIA II 8.

And I would probably arrange it similarly with a non-Ikea kitchen as well.

Thanks again for your feedback. We definitely need to replan again, especially since it’s not really solved with the Nolte either. Although I think we won’t fit a 60+40 because of the passage in the peninsula. With Nolte, at least the base cabinet with the waste system would be under the main work surface. My only concern there was just the opening of the cutlery drawer while the dishwasher is open.

Why not, according to the plan there should be 85 to 90 cm of clearance at the peninsula. Doors also do not have a wider passage.
