why don't you go to another architect for once? I'm not forced to take this one.
We were also first with two [GU] with an architect... but at the same time we also inquired with a freelance architect.
We confronted all with the same desired house size and had rough drafts/offers created.
By the way, both were free of charge!
This way we could compare beforehand and are now building with the freelance one. He really puts in effort, makes good suggestions, which were partially refined together with us. Now our draft is finished and will be submitted as a building application so that it can start in March 2014. We are building without [GU] in direct awarding... here you can possibly save something by comparing offers.

In return, you have a bathroom where you can dance... I don’t really like this hall atmosphere as a bathroom – but some people need this size (especially probably with 4 people?) – so: whoever needs it...
still, I find the room layouts in relation to their sizes to each other very arbitrary and not well thought out.
