I am facing a similar issue, but for me the solution is relatively simple.
A brief preliminary consideration: why do people have such thoughts? Primarily because they don't want to commit (a typical problem of today's society).
But to be honest, we all plan our house, and with that, let's say 75%, it's decided where, for example, the TV will go.
And what is the likelihood that in a self-planned house you constantly move the furniture around?
Therefore, I will only have the preparation done on the "alternative" wall. That means going into the wall:
SAT socket, LAN socket, but as empty cables that neither have a socket in the living room nor in the basement in the multiswitch or patch panel. Then cover it and put wallpaper on it. That way I am prepared for the eventual case. Sockets will surely also be installed on the wall, but no more than a double socket.
Because I really think it's just about keeping all options open.
My 2 cents :D
