I see it quite differently ... this kitchen will be very practical.

I think the surfaces are great. Also the grid. But to me, it would be too limiting. There is somehow a wall everywhere. It may be "open" on one side, but when cooking, you are restricted on three sides. Who operates the upper drawers?

please look away!!

- always turning to the stove = water drops on the floor
- splashes behind the cooktop
- at the stove you are facing a wall
- long distances from the cooktop to the oven = in my opinion, these paths should be kept as short as possible, also from a safety aspect
- at the sink you are always standing with your back to the visitors/residents

That is why I asked whether it is open or closed; in my opinion, an open kitchen was turned into a closed kitchen.

Of course, everything is subjective, I hope not for the owner, it’s of course annoying to hear this afterward, since it can no longer be changed anyway, I just find it a pity.

Interesting perspective (haha). It may also be provoked by the fact that I have of course taken almost all the photos from the open side. So far, we didn’t have the feeling that, on one side, there is the large (60sqm) living area, opposite the large 2x2.2m window, currently still protected with film. I think that can be endured. True. The top drawer in the quasi space tower will really be interesting!

...
Who is dripping on the floor?
The oven is placed super conveniently next to the island and otherwise I don't need it in the immediate work triangle.

Unlike the tedious, now so popular island cooktops with their downdraft extractors and the risk of cross drafts for the fumes, there is a great niche here. The fumes can hardly escape.
It is an extra deep work surface in the cooktop niche.

You never stand with your back to the dining/living area at the cooktop or the sink, but always with a sideways view.

Around the sink, 2 to 3 people can comfortably work on this island. Even at the cooktop, 2 people can still work in parallel to the 2 to 3 people around the sink.

And, not everyone needs a video kitchen

This strange pity that resonates in your statements is unnecessary.

I said we put a lot of thought into it.

1. Water drops on the floor? What do you do with your pot that you’re constantly dripping? It’s basically a 180° turn from sink to cooktop. This can be quicker than having to go 1.20m sideways along the main countertop. And if something does drip: it should be negligible with tiles anyway.

2. What now? And with other kitchens no splashes get behind the cooktop, whether there’s a wall or not? And no matter what is there, you’ll clean it afterwards.

3. Generally you hardly stand at the stove, especially not for longer periods. Besides, then I look at beautiful oak grain.

4. The path from the cooktop to the oven is relatively rare for us. There are much more frequent paths between fridge, sink, and cooktop.

5. The dining table is to my right when I’m standing at the sink.

Again: none of your points are new to us, we are aware of all that and chose it consciously. The kitchen doesn’t have to suit everyone, only us. And even for us, it’s not 100% without compromise. But that is probably not a kitchen anyway.
