I always wonder about that too, but you can say the same about a fireplace.

I do think that (at least I) will sit there. We only have a mountain view from the upper floor after all.

With cushions, it won’t be that uncomfortable, I believe. I really wanted this window because I’ve always liked sitting by the window and have already enjoyed sitting on the (too narrow and cold, because made of stone) windowsills whenever possible.
Otherwise, I think it’s a good use of space with the shelf and in between you can also sit.

It was made by a carpentry business from Langerringen, Bernd Steinhausz. Just google him, he also has a website.

Yesterday the first lamps were installed – however, not our large lights.

It was also decided to install the eyecatcher in the living room (Mercury by Artemide) as well as the Mitos by Occhio over the (still to be created) kitchen island later, because they would probably be more annoying right now. I’m also afraid that the Mercury will be too big for the living room now, after I saw the box it’s packed in — oops... we’ll see...
We’ll need another appointment later anyway, because the lamps in the guest bathroom are best installed together with the mirror there (on which they sit). At the moment I am coordinating the glazier, the kitchen builder, and the lamp guy so that there is a concerted action in mid-July: the glazier delivers and installs the mirrors, the lamp guy installs the remaining lamps, and the kitchen island at least is already there (the countertop for the island will only come at the end of July, but once the island is there, the lamps can be aligned to it).
Ugh...

Therefore, the showcase lamp yield from yesterday is rather low. The (high-voltage) spots were installed in the living room, dining area, and hallway as well as above the (still to be created) countertop in the kitchen:

Notice the detail that the lamp guy POINTED OUT TO ME EXTRA, namely the dots in front:

That is actually the brand logo of the lamp! Important! ... I really had to think about whether I would have liked it better without the dot in front *ahem*, which shows that I’m obviously not on top of branding... So now we have the dots in front so everyone knows that brand spotlights are hanging there. So if I ever have anyone visiting who knows more about lamps, then I can score points! (literally *lol*)

Pretty (and the reason why we wanted these spots – it definitely wasn’t the dot) is the cone of light that the spots already make, even without a work surface underneath:

Our carpenter (the one for the seating window) was also busy and finished our stairs.

First the ones to the upper floor, now oiled and therefore darker:

Then also at the side (and again protective film on the stairs):

And also the stairs to the basement:

and immediately protected again with film (I was too slow to catch them finished without film):

The baseboards are now installed in the downstairs hallway as well – so it’s finished!

And the sliding door between bedroom and dressing room is installed too:

It’s coming along!

: Thanks for the well-meaning tip. The "problem" is slabs of this length in >90cm depth.
: You really have a beautiful house, I just keep thinking it's being built by a team of executioners

But shouldn't a carpenter be able to solve that? Take two boards and connect them accordingly, that should be possible. If you glue them properly or additionally connect them from underneath, it should be possible to create a suitable board, at least as a layman who has done some woodworking himself would think. In addition to glue, you could use dowels as connectors or plate connectors from below. That way, you should be able to connect the boards so that the joint is not visible, but rather you have "one" board.

well, I think you'll probably never manage to get the grain from one "piece of wood" to continue exactly the same to the other. I think you will always see a transition
