I'm curious to see how the house will be transformed into a gem. It has potential. If you no longer need the grille on the upper window, I think I could use it. ;) Is it made entirely of sandstone or are the other walls half-timbered? It's a pity about the windows. Does only the facade have to be preserved, or are there also requirements for the interior? Be careful where old and newer (1960s) building materials meet. That’s where we found the most damage during demolition. Yes, we demolished. Nothing could be done anymore. The sandstone walls of the outbuildings still stand as a retaining wall.
It might be that I’ll get back to you. Currently, it’s in the cellar. The other walls are white plastered and rather unspectacular.
The requirements of the historic preservation authority are actually relatively unspectacular. The building itself is not listed. The buildings around it are partially monuments, and overall there is a protection against changes for the old town. That means specifically for us: Although there are no subsidies, we still have to get approval for anything that changes the facade. The advantage is: We can deduct everything related to the renovation of the facade on our taxes, and KFW historic preservation applies to us.
Attached are the floor plans as we found them and the site plan:
